Undergraduate Canadian Scholarships: Students from other countries who wish to study in Canada. There are more than 1000 undergraduate scholarships available to them through the government of Canada’s International Scholarship Program.
These undergraduate scholarships for international students are from individual provinces and territories. Most of these undergraduate Canadian scholarships are on the basis of academic merit. Ontario Trillium Scholarship:
The Ontario Trillium Scholarship program awards over 12,000 students up to $1,500 each year. The program is open to both domestic and international undergraduate students with demonstrated financial needs. Those who study full-time in their first or second year of a post-secondary degree.
At a publicly funded Ontario college or university. Recipients must maintain their academic standing while they receive funding. Ontario Student Opportunity Grant:
The Ontario Student Opportunity Grant (OSOG) provides non-repayable financial assistance. To full-time students with a family income of $90,000 or less. The amount of assistance varies by student. In 2022/23, an Ontario resident student with a family income of $90,000 or less. Those are eligible to receive $1,850 in OSOG funding over their undergraduate career.
OSOG can help students who require more financial support than they are able to obtain through other grants and awards. Students must apply each year if they wish to continue receiving OSOG funding beyond their first year of study. Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS)
This highly competitive scholarship is for candidates who can demonstrate an excellent academic record. Including a first-class average in your program of study. The CGS is to help you bridge the gap between your undergraduate studies. And postgraduate studies, in Canada or abroad. The amount of funding is $15,000 per year for up to three years. All applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents studying at a Canadian institution.
Peter B. Gustavson Award:
Established in 2007, Gustavson Award is an undergraduate Canadian scholarship for outstanding international students. Currently enrolled in a program at any one of Canada’s top five research universities. UBC, University of Toronto, University of Alberta, McGill University, and McMaster University).
The award is from UBC’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business in honor of their former dean. Whose vision and foresight created one of Canada’s best business schools. Each recipient receives $5,000 that they may use to fund their education. Or participate in one or more experiential learning opportunities; workshops and conferences; career development trips; or innovative projects such as research collaboration with faculty members.
Mitchell Scholarship Undergraduate Canadian Scholarships:
The Mitchell Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship program, providing financial assistance. To full-time undergraduate students with previous study experience in Canada. Eligible candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Who is entering their final year of study at an accredited Canadian university (public or private?
Awards range from $25,000 to $45,000 including tuition fees. Books, and/or other costs related to your studies. Note that you’ll need a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 to qualify. The deadline is March 1 each year. There is no supplementary material necessary!
Rideau Club Clifford Sifton Travelling Fellowship:
The Rideau Club Clifford Sifton Travelling Fellowship starts in 1964 to assist an undergraduate student. From a non-profit organization (recognized by Status of Women Canada). She has shown a strong interest in international relations and has expressed a desire to experience life outside of Canada. A maximum award of $1,000 is available.
Applicants must be Canadian citizens, have permanent resident status. Or hold a valid student visa, and currently, for full-time at an accredited university. Or college with two years’ standing remaining before graduation as well as being a member of The Rideau Club. There are three deadlines per year: February 1, May 1, and October 1.
The Polson Family Foundation Award for Academic Excellence:
The Polson Family Foundation Award for Academic Excellence awards four scholarships of $2,500 each to international students. From Asia who is attending an undergraduate university program in Canada. The scholarship is based on academic merit and financial need. Students who wish to apply must have at least two years of post-secondary education (preferably undergraduate studies) remaining before graduation.
They must also demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting their IELTS or TOEFL scores. And be able to prove that they have sufficient funds to support themselves. Financially for one year at their current educational institution. The application deadline is March 31st of each year. This scholarship starts during a very specific time period that begins on February 1st.
Western Alumni Merit Award-Undergraduate Canadian Scholarships:
The Western Alumni Merit Award is for an undergraduate student with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Who demonstrates financial need and has made significant contributions to his or her community, university, or profession. The award comes with a one-time scholarship valued at $1,000 as well as a plaque. To be eligible, students must have completed at least two years of studies at Western University. In the full-time undergraduate study before considered for graduation by March 1 of their final year. The deadline for applying is January 15 each year.
NAIG Ontario Powwow Celebration Award For Aboriginal Youth in Sport and Physical Activity
This award is to recognize and support Aboriginal youth in Sports and Physical Activity. Candidates must be between 18-25 years of age, reside in Ontario and participate in a Sport or Physical Activity program. (1 day per week) during their current year of study. The value of the Award is $4,000.00 which is to help meet travel and accommodation costs.
Related to their participation in sport/physical activity at any level. Successful candidates will receive an official recognition certificate from NAIG Ontario. An invitation to attend World Indigenous Games Invitational Powwow (if resident outside Canada). And a photo with Governor General David Johnston at World Indigenous Games. Closing Ceremonies on July 29th, 2022 (if resident within Canada). Similarly’ closing before June 30th, 2022.
Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal:
The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is a commemorative medal award. In 2012 to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s sixtieth year as monarch. It was accompanied by a £5,000 grant and an annuity of £19,833. The award was open to people who were alive on 6 February 2012 (the date of the Queen’s accession). It could also be awarded posthumously, although in that case a minimum of 10 years’ service was required. In each jurisdiction where a recipient received less than ten years. Service credit, that person would receive only half of the annuity; if they received more than ten years’ credit, they would receive their full annuity.
